Shah Jahan Mosque Makli, Thatta, Sind Province, Pakistan. 17th-century mosque that is the the central mosque for the city of Thatta city. The mosque architecture is an elaborate display of tile work, considered to be most elaborate in South Asia. It is for its geometric brick work, a decorative arrangement that is unusual for Mughal era mosques. It was built during the reign of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who gifted it to the city as a token of gratitude when the Mughal Emperor took refuge in the city for some during a rebellion against his father Emperor Jehangir.
